In Yemen, years of conflict have left the healthcare system fractured, with limited access to neonatal and rehabilitation services. Many children are born with physical or cognitive disabilities, and families living in poverty often struggle to provide the support and equipment their children need.

This is the reality for families of differently-abled children in Shabwa governorate, an area that is often difficult to reach due to security challenges. In these isolated communities, children with disabilities face daily obstacles that limit their movement, independence, and opportunities.

With support from The Waqf Fund, a critical intervention was implemented to reach the most vulnerable cases. The team identified children in urgent need across Ataq and Bayhan districts and provided specially designed wheelchairs to help them move with greater ease and dignity. Each wheelchair was fitted with colourful, cartoon-printed fabric to bring comfort and joy to the children receiving them.

This essential support helps children become more mobile, more independent, and better able to participate in daily life, offering not just equipment, but renewed hope for their future.

Delivering Hot Meals to Families in Need

The Waqf Fund team supported emergency hot meal distributions across North Gaza, reaching families sheltering in displacement camps where access to food has become extremely limited. In an environment where markets are disrupted, supplies are scarce, and cooking facilities are often unavailable, a single hot meal can make a meaningful difference.

Across three distributions in late August and early September 2025, thousands of meals were prepared and served to families facing severe hunger and uncertainty. For many, these meals provided the only reliable source of nourishment for the day.

Each hot meal offered more than food. It helped restore strength, eased daily hardship, and reminded families that they are not alone. In Gaza, where conditions remain extremely difficult, a warm meal represents comfort, dignity, and a lifeline for those struggling to survive.

Emergency Water Distributions

The Waqf Fund team delivered clean drinking water across South Gaza, reaching families and displaced people struggling to survive without safe water. In Gaza, where access to clean water has become one of the most urgent daily challenges, every litre delivered represents relief, protection, and hope.

For many families, safe water is no longer available from regular sources. Long journeys, unsafe supplies, and overcrowded shelters have made even basic needs difficult to meet. Emergency water deliveries help families drink safely, prepare food, and care for their children, reducing the risk of water-borne diseases and severe dehydration.

Through these distributions, families facing extreme hardship are given a small but vital sense of stability. Clean water restores dignity, protects health, and provides immediate relief during a crisis, turning every delivery into a lifeline for those who need it most.

Shelter Rehabilitation

The Waqf Fund team in Pakistan is building safe, flood-resilient homes for families affected by the devastating 2022 floods. Each home represents hope, dignity, and a fresh start for communities that lost everything.

Every house includes a private room, a kitchen, and a toilet, providing families with a secure and complete living space. The homes are built several feet above ground level and designed to withstand future flooding, helping protect families for years to come.

Solar panels are installed in every home, providing access to clean, reliable energy to power essential appliances and support daily life.

Cataract Surgeries

The Waqf Fund team in Somalia carried out a cataract surgery project to help elderly people regain their sight and independence.

Eye-screening camps were organised for 375 individuals, and 110 patients received life-changing cataract surgeries at Ottica Fonka Hospital in Mogadishu.

After a simple 10-minute procedure, many patients can see again within 12 hours. For those who have lived with partial blindness for months or even years, this surgery is a powerful step toward a better quality of life.

Orphans back to school party in Aden

The Waqf Fund organized a fun day for 520 orphans on 5th October, 2025.

For the Back to School campaign, our team in Aden worked hard to ensure happy memories were created for hundreds of innocent children. There was a teddy bear mascot that left everyone in giggles. Songs were sung, faces adorned with interesting designs and most important of all – pure delight as each child received a prettily designed bag.

The bag was filled with notebooks, pens, eraser and sharpener, colouring pencils and a water bottle to help keep them well hydrated. These items will facilitate them this year and hopefully ahead of that too.

Women’s Skill Centre in District Bagh, Kashmir

The Waqf Fund, in partnership with Human Appeal, has launched a Women’s Skill Centre in District Bagh, Kashmir, providing training in tailoring and embroidery. Till now, 60 women have been enrolled who are receiving this training. The initiative aims to empower women with financial independence, restore dignity, and strengthen community resilience amid rising living costs.

With rising inflation and unemployment in the country making it difficult for people to support their families. Pakistan’s annual inflation surged to 5.6% in September, the highest since October 2024, up from 3.0% in August. Inflation is at its peak in Jammu & Kashmir, with few job opportunities, it is getting difficult to support the family in this difficult time. The cost of essential goods and daily living has become a growing challenge for families — especially for women struggling to support their households.
