Our Board of Trustees ensures that The Waqf Fund remains faithful to its charitable mission, Islamic values, and legal responsibilities. As the overseers of our work, they supervise governance, safeguard our supporters’ trust, and uphold the long-term vision of waqf as a force for sustainable good.

Professor Kamil Omoteso

Professor Kamil Omoteso

Chair of the Board of Trustees

A professor in Accounting and Governance, Kamil Omoteso is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Derby

He has held numerous academic positions at De Montfort and Coventry universities and founded the Education Support Initiative for Africa (ESIFA) that has donated more than 75,000 books and journals for African universities.

In 2015, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Author Contribution at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence, and is a current member of the Board of Trustees of Human Appeal.

Dr. Emir Camdzic

Dr. Emir Camdzic

Member of the Board of Trustees

Dr. Emir Camdzic is an expert in Islamic finance and risk management, specialising in Islamic finance and commercial investment. He holds multiple advisory positions in the industry and has extensive experience, including a tenure at Al Rayan Bank.

Dr. Camdzic has taught Islamic finance and entrepreneurship to postgraduate students at the Markfield Institute for Higher Education and is currently the MBA Islamic Finance and Risk Management Programme Lead at the University of Bolton. Dr. Camdzic holds a BA in Islamic Studies, a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management, and also a PhD in Islamic Finance. Dr. Camdzic is a signatory to the guiding principles for the Takaful industry in the UK.

Dr. Muhammad Qattan

Dr. Muhammad Qattan

Member of the Board of Trustees

An advisor in Shariah banking, Dr. Muhammad Qattan is a member of the Shariah supervision committee with a number of banks, funds, and investment companies, including the Islamic Arab Insurance Company (Salama) and Minhaj for Islamic Consultancy.


Dr. Qattan graduated in Islamic Economics from Imam Muhammed bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, and has a PhD in Islamic Banking from the University of Birmingham.
