Water Aid Waqf

Clean water funded by waqf

Funds created through your waqf investment provide clean water via desalination, water wells, and solar-powered filtration.

How it works

what happens after I donate?
When you donate a waqf share today, it is immediately pooled in a Sharia-compliant fund. Within one year of your donation, your waqf share generates profit to help provide clean water. We purchase an asset that will provide profit, but even before your asset is purchased, your waqf share gets to work. Since our inception in 2023, we’ve purchased two properties and we aim to continue purchasing.

Why direct your waqf to clean water projects?

Globally, over 2 billion people regularly drink unsafe water, and a staggering half a million people die each year from waterborne diseases, many of them treatable and preventable.

Each year, over 250,000 newborn babies die from infections linked to unsafe water, and a quarter of girls drop out due to a lack of toilets when they hit puberty.

In some communities, it can take six hours each day to fetch water, which is typically done by mothers and their children; this is time that could be spent earning an income, caring for children or getting an education.

Donating you waqf to our clean water projects ensures that you continue to help marginalised people to have access to clean water for years to come.
