Emergency Aid Waqf

Emergency Aid Waqf

Emergency aid funded by waqf

Funds created through your waqf investment provide families in emergency with vital aid, such as food, clean water, shelter, and hygiene kits.

How it works

When you donate a waqf share today, it is pooled in a Sharia-compliant fund. Within one year of your donation, your waqf share generates profit to help provide emergency aid projects such as food, clean water, shelter to families in crisis. We purchase an asset that will provide profit, but even before your asset is purchased, your waqf share gets to work. Since our inception in 2023, we’ve purchased two properties and we aim to continue purchasing.

Why direct your waqf to emergency aid?

Across the world, the scale and number of emergencies has overwhelmed communities. More than 305 million people need humanitarian aid. In recent years, there has been more armed conflicts than there has been since World War II, and 120 million people have been forced to flee their homes.

In Sudan, the largest humanitarian crisis since records began continues to unfold, with over 30 million people in need of humanitarian relief. Across the globe, 295 million people are facing extreme levels of hunger.

Donating you waqf to our emergency aid projects ensures that you continue to help families in crisis year after year.

FAQs

The Emergency Aid Waqf is a permanent charitable investment whose annual profits are used to provide essential support for families in emergencies — including food, clean water, shelter, and hygiene kits.

When you donate £100 as a waqf share, it is invested in a Sharia-compliant way — usually in a low-risk property. Each year, 80% of the profits go towards emergency aid projects, 10% is reinvested to increase future income, and 10% is used to maintain and sustain the waqf.

In partnership with Human Appeal, which has over 30 years of experience in more than 25 countries, the waqf supports projects such as: Providing clean water in crisis areas. Hot meals and food parcels for displaced families. Temporary shelters for those who have lost their homes. Mobile clinics and emergency medical care. Winter clothing for vulnerable families. Prosthetics for those injured by war. Mobile schools for children in conflict zones. Rebuilding hospitals in affected areas.

A donation of £100 can generate £1,370.78 in profit over 100 years, which could provide 68 emergency kits — helping 340 people. Each kit includes food, water, basic medicine, hygiene supplies, and blankets.

Because the world is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis — more than 305 million people need aid, and 120 million have been forced to flee their homes. In Sudan alone, over 30 million people are in urgent need of relief, and in Gaza, children are living through one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history. Your waqf helps provide life-saving support year after year.

Yes, all waqf investments are managed according to Islamic finance principles and are carefully reviewed by qualified scholars to ensure full compliance with Sharia.
