It can be tough choosing where to give your charity. We deeply believe that waqf is a world-changing charity – benefiting communities in the long term, and bringing blessings to you – the person who gives – year after year, and even after your lifetime.
But don’t just take our word for it! He’s a detailed journey of what happens when you donate a waqf with us.
You donate a waqf share on our website to a sector (e.g. water) of your choice, and receive a certificate.
We pool your charity with other donors, keeping it in a Sharia-compliant bank account
Meanwhile, our investment committee comprised of scholars and specialists in Islamic finance perform rigorous checks on potential investments, ensuring they are low risk, ethical and Sharia compliant.
We use your pooled donation to buy this asset. Our assets are always rented out long term (ensuring income for years) to established businesses in safe locations. Find out more about our current properties.
We never spend your donation – it is locked and invested into a physical asset, which continues to provide income for charity projects year after year.
One year after buying the property we collect the income for the year and the profit is divided out proportionally to all the people who invested, supporting their projects of choice.
10% of the donation is reinvested into the next property we will buy – so your charity and impact grows each year. 10% supports our administration, but if our Waqf Support Fund has sufficient funding to cover our operational costs, this 10% is also reinvested.
Your portion of the profit is sent to a project in the sector you chose to support, but your initial donation remains, generating income for another year before we withdraw profits again.
Once again, 10% is reinvested, 80% goes to the people that you chose to help. The cycle continues. Forever.
