Don’t let the best 10 days pass without making these duas every day

Alhamdulilah, the most blessed 10 days are here – a second chance to reap the huge blessings we experience during Ramadan and Laylatul Qadr. So blessed are these 10 days that The Messenger of Allah ﷺ likened every single one to Laylatul Qadr:

“There are no days more beloved to Allah that He be worshiped in them than the ten days of Dhul Hijjah. Each day of fasting in it is equivalent to the fast of an entire year. And each night standing in prayer is equivalent to standing in prayer on the Night of Power.” (Tirmidhi)

What duas should I make?

First, remember to address Allah by His beautiful names. If you’re looking for forgiveness, call to Allah as Al-Rahman; if you need sustenance, call upon Al-Razzaq. Familiarise yourself with His names, and use them in your duas.

You can also use some set duas that were known to be used by The Messenger ﷺ

Allah’s oneness

“There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things.”

For good in this world and the next — the most frequent of the Prophet at Arafah
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-nar
“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Quran 2:201.

Duaa for forgiveness

Rabbana innana amanna faghfir lana dhunubana wa qina ‘adhaban-nar
“Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” Quran 3:16

For guidance and sufficiency

Allahumma inni as’aluka al-huda wat-tuqa wal-‘afafa wal-ghina
“O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency.”
Sahih Muslim 2721

For Paradise and protection from Hellfire

Allahumma inni as’aluka ridaka wal-jannah wa a’udhu bika min sakhatika wan-nar
“O Allah, I ask for Your pleasure and for Paradise, and I seek refuge from Your displeasure and from the Hellfire.”

Adhkar

Don’t forget that the Messenger commanded us to increase our tahleel, takbeer, and tahmid in these 10 days  – that is saying La ilahailallah, Allahu Akbar, and Alhamdulilah.

The sahaba Abdullah Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah (RA) used to go to the marketplace in the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah reciting takbir, and the people around them would join them in reciting, according to a hadith from Bukhari.
